किसी ज़माने में कहीं एक राजा था जिसका राज दूर-दूर तक फैला हुआ था। अपने दरबार में उसने बहुत सारे विद्वानों को सलाहकार नियुक्त किया हुआ था। एक दिन वह कुछ सोचकर बहुत परेशान हो गया और उसने सलाह लेने के लिए विद्वानों को बुलाया।
राजा ने उनसे कहा – “मुझे नहीं मालूम कि इसका मतलब क्या है… मुझे ऐसा लगता है कि कहीं कोई ऐसी अंगूठी है जिसे मैं अगर पहन लूँ तो मेरे राज्य में हर तरफ़ खुशहाली और व्यवस्था कायम हो जायेगी। मुझे ऐसी अंगूठी चाहिए। उसके मिलने पर ही मैं खुश होऊंगा। लेकिन अंगूठी ऐसी होनी चाहिए कि जब मैं खुश होऊं और उसे देखूं तो मैं उदास हो जाऊं”।
यह बड़ी अजीब बात थी। इसे सुनकर विद्वानों का भी सर घूम गया। वे सभी एक जगह एकत्र हो गए और उन्होंने ऐसी अंगूठी के बारे में खूब विचार-विमर्श किया। बहुत मंत्रणा करने के बाद उन्हें ऐसी एक अंगूठी बनाने का विचार आ गया जो बिल्कुल राजा के बताये अनुसार थी। उनहोंने राजा के लिए एक बेहतरीन अंगूठी बनवाई। उसपर लिखा था:
“यह भी एकदिन नहीं रहेगा“

Solomon, the powerful and wealthy king chooses to test his most loyal and trusted minister, Benaiah Ben Yehoyada, by asking of him an impossible task.
The king asks Benaiah to find for him a ring, knowing full well that the ring does not exist, which has magic powers. “If a happy man looks at it, he becomes sad, and if a sad man looks at it, he becomes happy,” he tells him. He expresses his desire to wear the ring for Sukkot, which is six months away.
After months of searching, Benaiah finds himself, the night before Sukkot, walking through the poorest neighborhood of Jerusalem. He happens upon a jeweler, who, when asked if he’s heard of such a ring, produces from his pocket a plain gold ring, to which he adds an engravement.
Benaiah returns just in time on the eve of Sukkot to give the king the ring he has requested. When the king looks at the engraving, he reads four words: “gam zeh ya’avor”, which translates to, “This too shall pass” or “This too will pass”.
At that moment, Solomon realizes that his wisdom, tremendous wealth, and power are fleeting things, for one day he will be nothing but dust.

पर खाते खाते ice cream की मात्रा कम होती जाती थी!
हम दुखी होते थे इस बात पर कि जल्द ही ice cream खत्म हो जाएगा।
